Wrong phone number
September 12, 2009 - 11:18am
I didn't realize that I should have registered my mobile phone number (the page just says phone number) and I entered my home number. Can this be fixed?

I am under the impression that some of the games will involve texting, yes? I don't see any way to resubmit the phone number.

The stored phone number is just for validation purposes. Any challenges that require texting will involve you texting first, so there will never be a conflict between your stored number and the text-based challenges.

I cant play that part of the game, Due to being charged extra for incoming texts, I have blocked all texts from my cell, that means ALL, I cant unblock for the game. Sorry to miss out on that part.

A number of us are being excluded from parts of the game. In particular I'm annoyed that I can't participate in the picture the horses game since I'm a Mac user. And even if I had a PC, I'd need a broadband connection, And Microsoft recommends a quad-core processor to create photosynth images. Who has that?

It certainly is not our intention to exclude anyone from the game intentionally. The fact is, we're experimenting with multiple platforms and tools to serve a broad range of people who have various resources to work with.
We have tried to develop enough puzzles on enough platforms so that everyone has a fair shot at gaining thousands of points. People who live outside the D&C circulation area will have a difficult time doing newspaper puzzles, but they can do the online jigsaws and sliders (basic computer needed for these).
Also, people who live outside the area will have to travel into the city to do many of the Local Challenges, so they can generate points through online activities.
Here's what we'll do for the Photosynth puzzle: Professor Liz Lawley, who is helping lead the PTI team, has offered to open her class from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday (in the Innovation Center on campus). If you have photos that you'd like to use for the Photosynth but don't have the computer resources to build, come to the class and she and the students will work with you on it using RIT computers.
Parking is free after 6. Does this help?

Angelwings, you can still partake in the scavengerhunts. Just find a friend with a cellphone. :)

Jared, Thanks VM, YUP, figured that out, working on that now, if you are Forge, go to the Forum Page for us. Micci

You can use your home number, you just need to be able to answer it when you submit the number. You may resubmit that number or use your cell, whichever would be easier for you to answer immediately.
