So where do we go from here? A further explanation of what we signed in for would be nice.
Thanks

The D&C has 2 articles with some more details: http://tinyurl.com/kqg58c and http://tinyurl.com/kv4bc9 . We'll have to earn points for our faction by solving puzzles in the paper, but also by accomplishing tasks at different Rochester locations.
More info from the Facebook page
...weekly skill-based challenges (photo contests, video contests, recipe contests, etc)
The first newspaper puzzle, a rebus, will appear in next Saturday's newspaper (Living Section). Then, a crossword on Sunday (on the Do It! page, back of Sports). Each is worth 25 points. They get more difficult, and worth more points, as the weeks go on.
You and your kids will probably really enjoy the weekly scavenger hunts, which take you on short tours of interesting parts of the city--in fact, several children were involved in the creation of those hunts!
I think there will also be some activity at the Clothesline festival this Saturday, so set aside some time to go :-)

We've moved the weekend activity to the neighborhood *around* Clothesline, and combined it with the scavenger hunt. A two-for-one achievement opportunity!
Take a look tomorrow morning at the "Explore the Arts" scavenger hunt and the "Find the Factions" code challenge.
I can also tell you that the scavenger hunt is kid-tested and parent-approved :)

Also, if you have a local based puzzle that you can't figure, throw it up here for us online players, we'll help you out.

When the game starts (on September 12th), you'll be able to join in the weekly events and various web games to obtain achievements and points for your faction!
