Can we catch the Trees this week?

The Watch seems to have the more hard core puzzle solvers, but I think our numbers are just to low. This mornings paper said that total player count is getting close to 2000. I think we'd need to recruit 500 players just to have a chance for the overall point count.

Yeah, the 250 flat to everyone really hurt us this week. We may be a smaller faction, but it appears we have the strongest players. I agree that we may be mathematically SOL this week, but hopefully we can get back into 2nd.

Also, as soon as the 250 points were awarded, I crunched some numbers but forget exactly what they were... dismissing points on Friday and Saturday which amounted to about 10,000 total points. I guesstimated about 420 Tree 320 Forge and 280 Watch.

Finally, 2000 players X 250 automatic points for the Saturday puzzle equals 500,000 total points -- way above the total points displayed on the board right now. S

o I'm not buying it. 1000 players is much more likely.

@JJJ maybe they "finessed" the numbers a little for publicity sake... i know in some cases there are couples playing under the same ID, or families of 4 or 5 that could put them up near 2000... although that still seems like a stretch.

They should give Watch bonus points for dominating the top 20 board

other factions get together and help each other... just saying...

Nearly 2,000 players is correct. The number you are seeing is the number who have confirmed through phone or Facebook.

@MotherandSon - Yeah, so far we haven't organized a formal help group, but I hope that wouldn't stop you from contacting any of us if you need help. I know I'm willing to share my what I know, either here on the forum or though email.

we missed 1 of last weeks Sunday puzzles because we could wrap our head around it... :(
I try to help where I can but no one came to our aid :(

I posted on the forums the minute I figured out the new egg... only to have a Watch member say - oh yeah I already got that!! (not pointing fingers Dev ;p) ;)
we NEED to keep helping each other! :)

ALSO... of note... I contacted Wilson Park for some info... and was asked if I was part of that D&C thing...

Anyone know how to plot EmDeeEm's Avg points per player in top 200 in a chart versus normal distribution?

That's way above my skill set with statistics and MS Excel.

I would imagine such a chart would show the Watch as the hardest workers in this game.

Well, I can plot the points as a histogram for each faction... Here's my attempt: Points Distribution

Basically, that graph shows the number of people in each faction that have earned a certain number of points (the points are spread out in 200 point "bins"). I did this in excel and had it draw trendlines for the data, which smooths it out a bit and makes it look pretty :-)

So yeah, the Watch has the most people with the highest point totals, but the Trees are beating us at pretty much every other value :-(

We're losing sight of the Forge because of the Trees. Looks like their recruitment drive was successful, and we're behind this week.
