If you are planning on using the rochester pepper blend for the recipe challenge , you may want to get down here soon. I was just at the stand and he didn't know he was part of the game and only has two left. He is trying to get some more down here.

I agree that you only need to use one, I was just mentioning it if you were planning on using that particular one.
Yeah, totally. I talked with Stuart for a couple minutes this morning. He was completely unaware of the game, but was very excited when we told him about it. He was wondering why some earlier customers had asked him for a secret code he knew nothing about.

I talked with him too... I also heard the girl at the cheese place say, "Is this for that contest?"
She did NOT sound pleased.

I talked to the Davis Honey person, and he seemed very happy about the contest. Also, looked like Stuart had gotten some more pepper when we got there (and he gave us some cinnamon!)
Now I just mix everything together and hope for the best!

It's funny that anyone was upset. I mean, the hunt is exposing many of us to places and businesses that we never knew anything about!
I guess they were just mad that they weren't prepared and weren't able to sell even more.
Both the people at Davis honey and Stuart's Spices seemed happy enough when I was there at 2:30pm.

igator210, we have about 1600 people registered for the game right now, and a number of those aren't even local. Given that about 300 people did the scavenger hunt last weekend, and under 150 did the photosynth, we didn't think there'd be an issue of a giant run on public market vendors. :)
Now that we know this type of challenge will be so successful, we'll be careful to notify any vendors that might be affected in the future. Still, I'd rather have them unhappy that they didn't have enough to sell, not unhappy that they brought a lot and didn't sell it!

The vendors' problem might be that if they sell out to what they see as one-time buyers, they might not have the product available for a regular customer. The last thing you want a customer to have to do is go to your competitor to get something you didn't have; they might not come back.

From the description of "Recipe Run" it doesn't appear that you need to use all the ingredients. Plus, it doesn't look like you need to solely use those ingredients.
However, I'm a little surprised that these vendors might not have been contacted since they'd be potentially selling around 1500 units this weekend.
