Well after 7 perfect weeks, I finally screwed up...
October 26, 2009 - 9:01pm
I hate to say it, but I finally screwed up today. I usually do the online puzzles first thing after breakfast but didn't have enough time to finish the OMG puzzle this morning before I left for work. I spent most of the day during my downtime at work working on a script for my video (which I was worried about since knew I was going to need to convert my file format and I never learned how to upload a video to YouTube). When I got home, I promptly videotaped my speech --it took a few takes to get the timing under 3min and to get a take when the dog (Gypsy, of gypsyandme fame) wasn't barking at something. Then I spent several hours screwing around trying to figure out how to edit the beginning and end of the video and then convert the video from a mov format to an mp4 format -- had to download new software, etc, etc, etc. Whole process was getting really frustrating, BTW. Finally got the video uploaded to YouTube at 8:05pm. Quality is a little grainy but the audio is clear enough so I was happy. THEN I remember that I never finished the OMG slider puzzle from this morning!!! All these weeks tied at first to lose it in the final run to home base. Well at least I got the video submitted... And now I see there's another new puzzle from the watchmaker... Oh no....

It's all good. The one and only time I messed up was in week ONE. And I'm still chillin' in the top 20. I was around 50th after my mistake, but since then many of the people in front of me have missed points and I've been able to pass them by with 6 error-free weeks!

I just did mine. Kind of lame. But I am PROUD to say I did this whole game by myself and stayed in the top 150!

Your video is so much better than mine, Gypsyandme. Unfortunately, I didn't have the time to make anything near what I would call "quality." Looks like you a script written up. I didn't. Recording took the longest time, since most of my attempts ended in funny faces, curses at my friend playing his trumpet horribly across the hall, a twisted tongue, or forgetting what I was going to say. In the end, I hit 59 seconds, and had to add a few seconds to the video with a brief Thank You message at the end. Adding this and the pictures (very roughly) took far less time than it took me to do all of the reading...
I guess I'll link it as well. THIS IS WHAT NOT TO DO FOR YOUR VIDEO:

Oh man, that sucks! I've been paranoid the whole game that I would forget to enter a code or finish something. You'll still be in the top 20 I bet.

Gypsyandme, your video is great! Sorry to hear you forgot to do the slider puzzle but don't let it get you down...you've done great and your hints have helped a great deal. (even though we still haven't been able to stumble upon the solutions to the dreaded watchmaker's puzzles!) Anyway we're happy to still be in the top 150!

well what do you know... I may be slow but I finally got the "Mark of the Propagandist" achievement after a bit more searching this morning. I will pat myself on the back now. Everyone's hints really did help.

Great videos everyone! I was unable to do this challenge so I want to say "thank you" to you all for saying what I felt about the game.

You've had a great run, gypsyandme. And it's not over yet!
Also, you have company. We were running with the pack up until Week 6. We were tied up all day Saturday and are in church Sunday mornings, and we wanted to do the Mt. Hope SCVGR during daylight (I get home too late during the week to do it after work), so we tried to squeeze it in on Sunday afternoon along with the newspaper puzzles. As it turned out, after rushing home and putting in a frantic effort on the crossword, we got the code in ... at 8:01! So close. It hurt to drop 200 points, but we're still finishing near the top, still looking forward to the gala and meeting everyone, still LOVING this game!
