ok, so I assume that means we need to examine some source code somewhere. That narrows it down ...

Hmmm, okay, so here's me thinking out loud.

Let's see, so i need to look at some source, somewhere. We did that on the PTP.com site .. anything new there? No, doesn't look like it. Nothing of note in the source code on clockworkexposure.

Okay, resource locator could be a search engine like google, or maybe a "uniform resource locator." let's try the URL of this blog item's website? nope. how about the name of the blog entry? nope. assorted pieces of the URL? nope. The clue says "The resource locator will reveal your reward." so how about just "The resource locator"? nope.

Anyway, that's how my brain works at solving puzzles like this. Or, 'not solving' I suppose, since I don't have it yet :)

My brain works like yours, Scott. I have tried all those as well with no luck.

Why yes, there is a site I did not mention in my thought process above. And yes I did have to check the source. And yes, it is an interesting read.

Hint -- the watchmaker mentioned that the 'rook' left something open. Where do you go to see things about the 'rook'?

I'm struggling. I went to that place and checked every page looking for some code I'd recognize. Maybe I had the wrong site?

I believe I found the correct site, and the reference to the smokescreen, but am stuck from there... Am I looking in the right place?

Hipmama and mcandrews -- try to remember how you looked for the source on a previous puzzle (Under Construction) and also remember what color the watchmaker used in his message before.

Michaelrhoda -- you're almost there. Go back and look at the hint that watchmaker gives you in the clockwork exposure site to find the code.

i found the reading and found the watchmaker's eye but don't know what to do with the words that apply to it. Someone help?

UGH. We must be over thinking this one...wouldn't be the first time. We're kicking around the SCP webpage, but not finding anything related to a 'smokescreen' and have no idea what gypsy means by the 'color' comment.

Keep checking the SCP site. Remember that the Watchmaker wants to be your "source". I believe the color comment refers to some browsers displaying comments in a green font.

Phew! Finally. I am happy to get my life back in approximately 7 days. :-)

help! we are searching everywhere on the SCP site and the clockwork site. totally lost as to how to get the Mark of the Propagandist achievement. any more hints?? thanks.

I found the URL to paste but no achievement..... Am I doing something wrong? :P

Team Kensek -- Try to remember the steps you took for the 'Under Construction' achievement. How did you view the source? If you can see the source file, look for more info in green to point you to a new document. Once you can find reference to the smokescreen, relook at the watchmaker's hint.

I found the new document and the smokescreen reference but I'm not getting the connection between that and the watchmaker's clue.

I know how to view the source, saw some information in green, but was not able to find a new document... I tried cutting/pasting green info into the browser, but was not shown any documents. Any further suggestions?

The smokescreen reference is a red herring. Focus on the clue from the watchmaker site "the resource locator" and then look at the new website you have found and at it's address on the web.

This is a hint that Scott gave earlier in this thread. Maybe it will help 'open your eyes' on watchman's clue.

thanks for the hints -- still lost. Can't seem to figure out how to view the source file that might lead me to another document? I keep looking at the little eyes and seeing clues but I'm not sure what to do with them.

Team Kensek: You need to click your mouse a certain way in order to get the menu that allows you to see a webpage's source code. The page you need to do this on isn't the clockwork exposure site but another one related to the game.

Once you view the source code, follow the other clues listed above.

Slowly....I am starting to think like all of you. It may take me several days, but I finally found this one!

I finally got that one too. I'm so slow with these! Sometimes they just jump out at you but not always. There are still a few watchmaker puzzles I haven't solved, like the one about the alias. Also I'm working on the new one that says "check the source". I think I'm supposed to check a website I've already checked before? But I didn't notice anything new there that looked like a code. Everyone has been giving great hints which I appreciate.

You already have the "Under Construction" achievement, so yes, it's a page you should have already visited and checked the source on. :-)

Ok, I will look again. It's probably right in front of me as usual and it's just not obvious to me! thanks
