PTI admins and gala planners-

I still haven't gotten a straight answer on this one. Every time I've asked, the topic stems into something completely different. So anyone out there who feels they need to change the subject here, take it elsewhere.

I'm still on the fence about the gala. I hear there's gonna be food, but if I have to wear a suit or tux, neither of which I have, I am NOT going. I'm not going to go out to Goodwill to get one either. So do I have to wear one of these? I'm willing to wear a mask. Fine. I can try to look decent with what I've got. Also fine. And what about costumes? It IS Halloween and I can incorporate a mask in a costume if allowed.

Please provide further details on the dress code so I can make up my mind as to whether to go or not.

Thanks,

Tazwalker

Taz, MamaMusings already said that costumes would be welcome, I already spent a lot on mine, so they better be, my bff and myself will be in costume!! I just hope that good taste will reign and common sense about costumes will be used, we dont want to end up looking ridiculous among the crowd, but interesting, intriguing, mysterious, or downright regal/royal or otherwise really NEAT should work!! Come and enjoy yourself, just be there or be square as we used to say to our younger selves! Micci

Taz, I think they understand that college students don't normally bring their Sunday best to school with them. mamamussings did say costumes are fine, just no face paint, because they need to be able to ID you at the door before you don your mask. I believe you mentioned a hockey jersey in another thread, borrow a goalie mask and come as a hockey player. Problem solved. :o)

I do hope you decide to come, I think you'll really have fun.

OK. I'm coming. Definitely costumed. Hope my idea turns out well... otherwise it may just look terrible. Thanks for your responses!

Speaking of the gala ....

It would appear I have some extra tickets. I'm in the top 150 (and I don't think, at this point, it is possible fFor me to drop out of that). My wife is in the top 150. That's 4 tickets between us. Plus I have 2 more fFrom winning the recipe run.

And, I think hfljazzguy, at least, has one not one, but TWO weekly contests, giving him personally 6 tickets.

So I was wondering.

Is there a limit to how many "guests" a person can bring? I realize tickets are non-transferable, but I imagine there are people who want to go and will be just outside the prize range, while my perfectly good tickets may go unused.

As we've said before, any given person can only win *one* set of tickets, regardless of how many challenges they win.

The pairs of tickets are issued in the name of the winner, and the winner *must* accompany their guest.

We offered winners pairs of tickets so that they would be able to bring a date to the party, but we're also operating under the fervent hope that not every single ticket issued will actually be used; if they are, we'll be over capacity and WAY over budget :(

Scott, my husband and I are also in the top 150, so between us we will have 4 tickets. One has been called for already, but I planned to offer the other to any player that doesn't have an invite who really wants to attend. To me that seemed like a fair thing to do for those latecomers who won't make it to the top 150.

I think you'll have an opportunity to "opt out" of the tickets, so they'll fall to the next highest score.

No, that's not correct. We're *assuming* some people can't attend, and have built that into our budget. (Did I mention that we did this project without any funding? :)

No player will receive more than one pair of tickets. Nobody below the top 150 in the leaderboard will receive a pair of tickets unless they won an individual challenge.

And we'd really appreciate it if you didn't offer tickets to people that you aren't actually bringing as your "date" to the party.

I really hate being the heavy on all of this--my preference would be to invite everyone who wants to attend. But space and money constraints make it impossible for me to do so. :(

I can regretfully say, and will likely relieve mamamusings, that I cannot attend the gala. I'm trick or treating with my mermaid. Watch for me as the Magic 8-ball around the RIT area though. Honk if you see me.

when is the email about the tickets going out, how long do we have to claim them? Right now i'm having a friend look at this over the phone because i don't have internet access until later in the day. We are in the top 150 and we want to make sure we receive our tickets.

I received the email yesterday (10/28) afternoon. I had to respond to it with my PTI username and my real name for ID purposes. Responses need to be sent by tomorrow (10/30) at noon in order to receive the tickets. They're emailing the tickets to winners by tomorrow evening.

If you think you should've received an emailing saying you're a winner, check your junk mail folder in case your spam filter sent it there.
