OMG Gear credit
October 2, 2009 - 1:55pm
I just solved the OMG gear puzzle, but no credit. It was tricky getting the gears just right, I really don't want to do it again...

it would be cheating only if i didn't actually finish the puzzle. But I did. I'll try again. I know how to do it but its tricky getting it right.

Ok, this time it worked.
BTW, it would be nice if this puzzle saved where you left off, like the other ones. If I need to leave it and come back, I always need to start over.

@jackman - Thanks for humoring me. It's good to know it worked the second time around - and I'm sorry if I seemed short with you earlier hiccup earlier (I didn't mean to be!).
I ::might:: be able to get the save state thing going without much difficulty. But do realize that just gives me that much more reason to make them excruciatingly difficult. >:D
Check back next week, mayhaps.

Screen shots are your friend on this one in the interim - if I can't finish the gears right away, I just take a screen shot and mail it to myself so I can pick it up on whatever computer I get to next.

My computer does not seem to want to do screen shots, tried it the other day, have the key right in front of me , never have used it, seems it does not work anyway - lol And yes, we know Joe, Tit for Tat and we get harder puzzles, ok, well how about the fact that the puzzles get harder, but the points stay the same????? Maybe the points should raise with the skill level it takes to do them? Sort of like a pay raise, we earn it, we get it! LOL Put that in your pipe and smoke it, lol Micci

Micci, When you hit the print screen key it takes a snapshot of your screen and puts it on the clipboard. To save it, I usually open Paint (in All Programs/Accessories folder) and paste it in and save.

Micci,
Have you tried changing the "Quality" setting within Flash? This has been mentioned in other threads.
Right-click (PC) or Control-click (Mac) anywhere within the game. A menu should come up with a "Quality" option. Set that to medium or low. It might not look as pretty, but it should run faster for you!
Cheers,

Yeah Joe, it does work some, but my problem is more of the one mentioned with my own mouse ineptitude and mistakes I make that cant be called back, number one reason for that saved option. LOL Micci

Hey folks!
Better resizing and save states are now part of the Gears - just in time (early, actually) for this week's puzzles!
For the changes to work, you should be seeing: "Version 10.08.12:20a" on the title screen. If this is not the case, please clear your browser's cache (this page is helpful: http://www.wikihow.com/Clear-Your-Browser's-Cache ).
Happy Gaming!

Joe, still not seeing that Version change, even after doing everything to clear all cache, cookies, etc, I think that my older OS is just not going to work with your newer version, so I will just get what I can and work with it, I have several to finish, but hopefully I will get at least one more done. Thanks, Micci

Micci,
The only other thing I can recommend is to be sure your browser isn't on the Gears page while you're following those directions. Make sure you're closed out of any Gears windows, and then give it a shot.

jackman,
I can't just give you the achievement (that would be cheating!) - and it appears to be working fine for everyone else. (plus, you got your bronze and silver just fine!)
Please give it another shot, and let us know if it's still an issue. Anyone else experiencing this problem, please chime in!
Besides, it's always easier the second time around!
Hang in there!
