Facebook achievement problems
September 21, 2009 - 5:55pm
Quite a few people receiving the higher point FB achievements despite being limited to 12 invites a day...were the achievements incrementing before they were listed, or do some people not have the 12-invite limit?

I love the bio field on Big Sam's profile... might as well just say, "I don't know, stop asking!"

LOL, yep...coulda sworn I saw another name or two in there, maybe not one of the top 30 so they don't stick out quite as much!
No fear, since I think we'll all catch up eventually on this one. :)

There IS a problem with this one, I have been on FB for awhile now and it chooses to lock you out of something willy-nilly, did it to me today, told me that my limit of friends to invite or re-invite is 0, so PTI crew, you may need to ask FB to remove some of their blocks in order for everyone to have a fair chance at getting the higher achievments.
I actually tried to invite the 50 but it stopped me at 6, then at 9, so I will try again later, but it may actually take a few days. Does it accumulate them or do you have to try until you have 50 at once, I only have a little over 100 friends on FB and MOST are family that won't play the game, they are out of state. Not a good recruitment tool and may even backfire if anyone is reported for spamming. Micci

Good Point AngelWings,
I see someone on the Leaders board who not only got 5 points for the one friend but also got 50 for inviting 25 friends AND 250 points for 50 Friends. How come this user was not locked out after the limit of one transaction a day?

PTI just made this game alittle more interesting by adding the Facebook "Add A Friend" feature. There will finally be point spread of the top 30!!! Rock On!!

I hope we get an answer for this cuz I get blocked @ 12. What's up?

They said the daily limit was 12, so those of us that got blocked at 12 are playing by the rules. The question is - how did a few certain individuals get around that? (And it looks from their profile texts that they have NO clue how they did either!)

The only people with the achievements of 25 or 50 should be the developers who were testing the feature before it went live.
We'll take a look and figure out what happened.

I was able to invite 12 people but I did not get any points for that, am I missing something?

I saw a few days ago that someone had this achievement, so I invited 25 Facebook friends. And I wasn't even linked to Facebook then...but I am now. Can I still get the achievement?

Yeah, it only let me invite 12 people, but gave me the points for inviting 25 and 50. Not that I'm complaining or anything....

I realize my comment was a different subject and moved it to it's own question.

When I followed the link to the "Invite a friend" page, I found a list of my Facebook friends, and a "You've already invited ..." list directly beneath it. To my surprise, the "You've already invited ..." list was already populated with 90+ Facebook user names I did not recognize. I shrugged this off, invited my 12 friends, and found that (1) my invited friends got mixed in with the unknown users, and (2) I was awarded all of the Facebook achievements (for inviting 1, 25, and 50 friends).
1. Please take a look at my account, as this is obviously incorrect.
2. Did PTI issue an invitation to close to a hundred strangers on my behalf?

And today I hit my limit at 6. Hope it's not three tomorrow! I'm crawling towards the points here. :)

Hit my limit at 6 today, only let me invite 12 yesterday!

I'm looking into this this morning.
A few things I'd note right off the bat:
- PTI is unable to send Facebook notifications on your behalf without you specifically requesting them. If you're seeing more than you invited, it's a bug in the display, but they didn't receive spurious invites.
- Facebook sets the daily limit of invites based on a bunch of criteria.

It appears that the issue here is users who incorrectly have a Facebook ID of 0 stored in our database. I am working on correcting the issue.

Please could you check the answers for this week's Video Quiz for which street was the first location. I knew the correct answer, but the first two times I played it, my answer was scored as wrong. Then I tried it with the answer the quiz had given, and that was marked wrong, but the correct one was given as the right answer! I did notice that the sequence of answers for the question changed each time, so maybe the problem is just with a specific sequence. Anyhow, I did finally manage to get it all right and earn the achievement.

A bunch of criteria = facebook bugs, at least according to the FB Developers forum here:

Lots of app developers complaining about arbitrary reductions in invite limits. It's Facebook, most likely, that's responsible for our 6-invite limit and not that good people at PTI.

Ah, thanks for the info. Hopefully they will allow us more time to achieve this then, since looks like can only do a few invites a day.

I didn't get points for the 12 I invited today? I got my 5 points yesterday but submitted a new one today and still have yet to get my points.

12x2=24 when you hit 25 you'll probably get your points

So my guess is tomorrow just invite 1 friend. And save the 11 for another day since I think they will go wasted and used up.

I had the problem of being maxed out at 6 today, so only 18 invites over two days.

I really don't get this. Am i doing it wrong or is it a glitch in the system?

I'm pretty sure it's just the system. DON'T PANIC!! :)

No, the limit is a per-day limit, and it's set by Facebook. You're not doing anything wrong.

Big Sam for the win!
