45 plus years ago I had just graduated from high school on Long Island and was about to enter the U of R. The weekend we came up for our orientation was July 24th. Many of us arrived by train- without our parents-and were met by some very nervous school officials who met us at the train station, quickly put us on buses and shepherded us to the River Campus. Those riots were my first experience with Rochester, but the school kept us so busy- and safe- that we never really understood the severity of what was happening. Thank so much for the memories.
