What is the Narrative Achievement?
September 12, 2009 - 5:13pm
I've noticed several people getting the "Mark of the Collaborator -- Narrative Achievement", but I can't seem to find anything about it. When I look at their list of acheivements they seemed to get all of the same things I did today. Any hints on this one??

Narrative achievements are harder to find, because they're hidden in various places around the web and the city.
This weekend, one of the narrative achievements is hidden in some material that anyone doing the scavenger hunt might encounter. Another is on a website, but not this one. :)

Thanks for the hint -- it was right there when I looked a second time. BTW -- Loved, loved, loved the scavenger hunt this morning. Can't wait for the next one... However, you might want to warn people that they can involve some walking -- didn't originally expect to walk as far as we did when we started. Could be a problem for some players.

Okay, I have searched all the videos, all the sites and sponsors sites, I have spent ALL EVENING doing this and have read about 3 dozen pages that never mentioned anything about this achievement. What exactly IS this achievment and if it is tied to The Forge, I can't find it, lol Micci

Me too! I finally went to bed at 1am! I first checked the websites of RIT and D&C since they are the folks responsible for this. Then I checked the websites of the sponsors, partners, and charities (WXXI, Kodak, etc.) I finished up with websites related to the arts in Rochester (rochesternota, etc.) Nada. Would some kind soul please clue me in as to whether is the totally wrong strategy?

Yeah I just finished the scavenger hunt and was panicked that my phone only had one bar left so I was really glad to see the end of it. Make sure your phone is fully charged. :)

One of the faction representatives was "collaborating" with someone.

Well. I guess that it is all tied to the scavenger hunt then and not a web clue afterall, I was not able to come to the event, so I wasnt able to get scavenger hunt stuff, is the narrative a scavenger hunt item? I thought it was a web clue. Need clarification - have I been looking for something that does not exist? LOL

There will be other opportunities to get the narrative achievements. They don't expire this week, so don't panic!

Are the narrative achievement, mark of the searcher and mark of the collaborator labeled? How will I know what I'm looking for?

Not labeled per se, but if you see something that looks like it might be a code, give it a try!

A pamphlet? One that was handed out, ok, now I am SOOOO confused!!! Everyone has been telling me different things. I was told it was an online clue. It is getting too frustrating to do this game and keep sanity! LOL I was enjoying myself, now I find that it is work! LOL

Angelwings777mp-
If you completed the search for the factions this weekend and found the RIT folks in the neighborhood then you have in your posession the "mark of the collaborator-narrative achievement". Read the material that you were given. It seems like the "mark of the searcher:SCP-narrative achievement" is on the scavenger hunt, so you're out of luck if you haven't done it yet (I haven't either :) ).
Hope that was helpful,
Ariel

Mark of the Searcher: SCP is an online one. Unfortunately, you have to give your email address to a third party to get it. which is pretty crappy, but it is online. Mark of the Collaborator was on the scavenger hunt and a physical piece of paper.

I think there is some confusion because there were two events the could be done at the same time.
First, from what I understand, the scavenger hunt is an event on its own. No points have been awarded yet for it.
As far as finding the fractions, that was a weekend only event. I got a total of 4 achievements from it.
It seems like most of the challenges are going to be announced, but there are going to me a few that you have to be more observant about. "Mark of the Searcher" and "Mark of the Collaborator" were two such hidden puzzles.
I don't know which challenge "Mark of the Searcher" and "Mark of the Collaborator" are associated with, because I got both of those at the end of both puzzles. But, I did get them at the same time.

The web address was on the SCP pamphlet, which you got from the person sitting next to the Forge rep. There was a code on the pamphlet for Mark of the Collaborator. On the back of the pamphlet was a web address. That web site was pretty obviously tied to this game. Registering on this web site gave you a code which could be used at that web site and "might be useful in other venues" (heh heh.) Submitting that code gave you Mark of the Searcher.
I got the distinct impression that registering on that web site would enable a player to get future emails with additional opportunities to rack up points. I think the learnings from this experience are:
1. Do as many tasks as possible (you had to do the scavenger hunt to get the pamphlet)
2. If while playing the game you see something that looks like a code, submit it
3. If in the process of playing the game someone gives you a web address, go there

Just to reassure you, people who received the Mark of the Searcher have not given their email address to a third party. Anything connected with the game has the same privacy guidelines as this site.

I wonder if there's some way to get the web addresses, etc., if you weren't able to attend the festival this weekend?

Isnt this great?! We are all assisting others that we dont even know to play the game! I love this attitude of helpfulness! I was emailed a code with signup on one of the sites on Twitter, so check thru carefully what is attached to each sponsor, (esp Twitter and FB) still looking on the Collaborator one, but I did not get to the Festival this weekend either. Gonna go thru and check each site to look for email opt ins - maybe that will do it. This is work, but its fun too! Loving meeting new people and even discovered one in my own backyard, we work for the same school district!

I'll tell you, if you tell me how you got the Mark of Searcher:SCP achievement :-)
