Theme song fun!

Just wanted to say that I thought this was by far the most fun challenge so far! We had such a good time coming up with the ideas, working together with our fellow trees, and then making it all happen. I love seeing everyone's videos too! Some really good songs out there. Thought it's too bad more people didn't go all out and actually sing their "song", instead of just posting words on the screen. Anyway thanks for taking me back to my college days, when we'd have annual airband competitions. Just want to share my video link cause I'm in love with it ;-)

I have to reply to Dirt on this one, we did 3 videos in the space of about 90 minutes and because we did not have alot of time on this one, there was no time to practice singing together and getting the ORIGINAL music and the ORIGINAL words, yes BOTH were original to come together, we tried to do it and ran out of time, we got kicked out of our meeting site, so please, dont be dissappointed at those that could not complete it with singing, it sure was a time crunch and really hard to do for some, Thanks Micci

I'm really impressed by the amount of creativity, talent, and enthusiasm shown in all the faction videos. I think the collaborative aspect of it really brought out the best in everyone and made the challenge a lot more fun!
I'm also amazed from a technical standpoint - imagine telling someone even 10-15 years ago that a bunch of random (and from looking at your videos, some of you are pretty random...) people would be able to create and share videos with soundtracks without access to professional equipment. And telling them that the biggest technical issue was making sure you got an email confirming your submission.

If you haven't checked them out do so. My sides are splitting with laughter at some of these. Very creative. I'm glad there will be one winner for each faction, there are a lot of really good ones out there.

Considering that the creation window from when the final rules were release to the deadline was 6 days, the videos show a lot of creativity. There are some that are so funny, I can't help but go back at watch again (yes that is a compliment). Other are so creative that they just amaze me.
Shilfiell.. did you and your group do all the Lego animation yourself? Nice touch.

@igator I wish I had....found that clip (creative commons, I try to play fair) and knew it would look good for that verse. I didn't count on Our Hero turning his head perfectly on the downbeat, though. I loved him even more after that. :)

Dirt5298, yours is DaBomb. If you don't win, I must not of seen all of the Tree submissions yet.
Shilfiell, loved it!!! Everything they were looking for originality, imagination, and a live band. Where are they playing next?
Speaking for one of those who didn't sing my original lyrics to the tune I wrote back in 5th grade, you heard my piano playing, my singing is worse. Not to mention I can't sing and play at the same time, just not that coordinated. My hubbie can't carry a tune in a hermetically sealed bucket. I thought about dubbing over the audio track, but at 4am, I couldn't find a mike. I know it won't win, but I had fun doing it, and it was a blast working with so many fine people and getting it done.

Gotta agree with you, Jfilion - I'm about as musical as dental drills myself, but love to write lyrics and mess about with my Mac. Fortunately I have musical relatives and friends - and actually, Kevin (vocals) did the Tuesday Open Mike at our Sunday hangout just this past week. :)
This was a VERY fun challenge because it let us all build on our strengths and work with friends old and new, plus crow about our respective charities and factions and all that good competitive stuff!
This whole game is kinda awesome imho.

There is a video on the D&C website showing our Tree group who were working on compiling the Mystery Photo puzzle pieces, in the food court at Maketplace Mall, and at the same time getting ready to perform "We're the Trees" for the Theme Song contest. We sang it first outdoors, by an actual tree, as shown in this video, but were worried about the sound quality, so we tried again in the corridor of the Mall post office, where the background music was minimal, and that was the version that was finally posted on YouTube. The words to our song are:
