Scavenger Hunt Scoring
September 12, 2009 - 2:08pm
Any insight into how the scavenger hunt scoring works? We got texted a score at the end, and told we were in 3rd place, but no explanation of what made us lose points? Is it based on time from start to finish?

All the reply texts I got said the answer was correct. I got 96 points total. Was it out of 100?

Yes, out of 100. Did you submit your photo? Maybe that was it. If not, I'll do some investigating.

I emailed it in after I was given the score.

Don't worry about the points; you'll get credit for completing the hunt if you finished it and sent in your image.
We'll check the photos on Friday and assign credit to the teams that successfully sent in the requested picture.

We did the same - completed everything without any errors but only got 96 points. I wonder if it might rectify itself once our pictures are evaluated.

I completed the hunt today (Sunday) but didn't get texted a score. Did get a message that I'd be awarded the achievement after my photo was uploaded.

How do you get a Scavenger Hunt score? We complete the Hunt but didn't get a score.

We removed the scoring message at the end, because we're not using the scores. The only thing we'll be checking is (a) whether you finished the hunt, and (b) whether you sent in the requested photo.

I'm disappointed that you don't use the scores as displayed on the SCVNGR app. My team scored 104 points because we answered every question correctly.
I was hoping that the scavenger hunt scores would help separate us from the dozens of others who have completed every task to date.
Once the all photosynth and scavenger hunts are credited, I bet there will be a 50+ person tie for first place.
I think it would be much more interesting if those 50 people were all within 10 points of each other as the case might be if you took the actual points that the SCVNGR app awards. But whatever... still fun.
Go team Watch!!!

In future hunts, we might consider using the game score.
Rest assured that over the seven weeks, as puzzles get harder and narrative clues start appearing in unexpected places, there will be fewer ties for first place :)

I completed the scavenger hunt on Monday, submitted my photo and the code I received at completion. But I have not been given credit for the hunt. Any thoughts?

As noted on the page describing the hunt, nobody will receive this achievement until tomorrow.

I have not yet got my score for Scavenger Hunt. Are you still processing e-mails and looking into it? I finished it on Tuesday.

I see that people are now receiving their credits for the scavenger hunt. We see our photographs but have not yet received our credit. We sent it in form our phones as a MMS with our linked telephone number in the text and we also entered our code when we got home into the website.
Please advise,
Thanks for all your hard work on this game

After texting your answers, did you get notes back that you answered the questions correctly, or did you miss one along the way? If you miss the answer the first time but submit it correctly the second time, you get partial points.
