Slider Puzzles
September 14, 2009 - 2:29am
Can I just say: I hate slider puzzles. :) I've never been particularly good at them. This, I attribute to the fFact that there is a strategy which I have not yet detected. Does anyone have any especially good advice on how to solve the slider puzzles? (Random shuffling of tiles is not actually good advice :)

Start with the top left work your way to the bottom right.

I always start with a corner and move from there. Figure out where 1 piece needs to be and move it to that area...you'll end up moving it around as you get closer to the end, but getting it in the general area is what you need to do.
I don't have a particular strategy other than that-i'm sure there are a few out there though!
good luck!

I found it useful to get a rectangle done at a time, i.e. get the left hand column done, then the next column to the right of it, etc. If you can do that you can pretty much leave those untouched as you move the other cells around within the remaining rectangle.
That being said I'll be happy if we don't get many more slider puzzles!

Don't worry, you'll only get one slider per week! I for one was able to do the 3x3 but after that, I'm stumped.

Okay, so I've worked out a system. Like the others said, so one row at a time. Also, it's helpful to rotate everything within a square or rectangle. Get some pieces in the right order (not necessarily spot) and then rotate them in a circle until they're in the right places. Ha, if that even made sense :)

I hate them, too, but this video was very helpful. I actually could do the hard one!

I would like to point out that the numbers (duh) were ON those little slider pieces, the puzzles arent numbered, that guy lost me before he even got to 5/6! It is really hard when you have to keep going BACK to see what the pic looks like, then try to put it together. I also hate these, but for a different reason, we think differently when we are older, things were simpler when you were a kid, time to go back and think like a kid. I can't even get the medium one, lol WAHHHHHH! Micci

You don't ::have:: to go back to see the image!
Just press "H" on the keyboard. :-D

Yeah, I love that H key, Joe. Thanks for adding that in!
Also, something interesting to note. Did you know that you can't randomly place the little squares when doing a slider puzzle because only HALF of the random dispersals are solvable.
I looks like Joe knew that though, as I haven't had any unsolvable slider puzzles. :)

Hey.
I just finished a slider puzzle. Was I supposed to get a code or something or will the points automatically add in?

I did get them and yes, TY VM for that key option, it helped, took some time, but I did get them, and even though I got frustrated, the really cool rush you get when you accomplish it is well worth it! I would do more of them , if they are a part of the game. GO FORGE!!!

Jared,
Someone else thought about unsolvability - and brought it up in the Support Forum.

I am with you! Slider puzzles are the worst - I think for the same reason you gave, that I am missing some strategy. I'd love to hear tips as well.
