I've been staring at these Newspaper photos and can't place any of 'em. The shopping one is nagging at me but so far I haven't even placed that. Unfortinately, I won't be able to make the meetup today since I am driving to Philadelphia for business - and I may not make it down there till after 8! So, I'm in a pickle...

I'll be here working for a little while yet, trying to ace the Crossword. If anyone has any tips or town ID's they'd like to share, could you email me using the contact form at left? ANYTHING will be a help. I really don't think any of these towns is Greece, and one MIGHT be Webster, but they're so generic!

Or you can call me at five zero three, two five three four at any time. I will be able to enter codes from my cell phone so even if I don't get this till 7:30 I'll still have time to get those big Forge points...

the lower left corner photo, with the white letters in it, is the sign at Ridgemeont Plaza in Greece.

In the 1970s, I lived in the apartments across Ridge Rd from this plaza. I was at the plaza two weeks ago and marvelled at how they had updated the Wegmans there, but had kept the retro plaza sign.

I contacted shilfiell about this.

What is the significance of the numbers in the photos?

At first, I thought they represented the order of the letters in the key word, and that we'd use the 1st letter of each town.

But there are two 1s, two 4s and no 3.

So maybe the key word is 2 words and the first word has two letters. Is 3 a space between the words, so there's no photo for it?

And maybe the 2 is used twice, once in each word?

Then I began to think the number represents the letter position in the town name that we're supposed to use to create the key word.

I can't make today's meet up either. So help here please!

Those darn trees are filling up the achievement list with the About Town achievement!

Photo in the middle on the bottom row:
I think it's the Stone Tolan house - the blurb on the web-site says it's in Brighton - any one agree?

I like the guess at the Stone-Tolan house. The images seem to match - red wooden siding on a cobblestone foundation.

Image top left is Pittsford for sure - found an online image that matches exactly.

scroll down to Pittsford, NY Main Street image

I can drive past the Stone-Tolan house in a few minutes, on my way to the start of the scavenger hunt, so I'll stop & see if it matches up to the bottom-middle pic.

I agree re top-left pic being in Pittsford, per the link shilfiell gave us.

I'm not sure that is the Stone Tolan House... It has big wide gray-colored, decorative edges of running up every corner. Also, this looks sort of barn-like. Those big doorways that lead to nowhere - don't they seem like they would have large equipment driving up to them..or something?

Re: Braddock Point Lighthouse - confirmed via this link:

http://www.us-lighthouses.com/displaypage.php?LightID=94

However, it's in the Town of Parma - Hilton's only the village and it's well outside Village limits. The link to Bogus Point Park on the image page confirms that the area is the Town of Parma.

OK... so thanks for the help. Based on the discussion, I guessed at the key word and got it. So... let's see if I can't help you all out by correcting some stuff here.

First, the photo in the upper left is Pittsford (as already stated).

Second, the photo on the bottom left is Greece (as already stated).

Third, Hilton and Brighton are both incorrect.

Fourth, the idea that the numbers represent the letter in the word (as stated above) seems to be correct.

Hope this helps. (I'll see if I can't figure out the towns to go with the photos...).

Oh yeah, missed that, I can confirm Parma is correct.

So that would be 3 letters in a common imaging word...

Top middle photo is the village of Honeoye Falls, which is in Mendon. Between the top two photos, you can guess the puzzle by knowing this weeks theme. Bottom right is Webster.

So a guess of "Gates" might work for bottom middle? :)
Or even Ogden?

The top middle pic is in Honeoye Falls (though I think perhaps they're going for Mendon?)

That bottom middle pic is not the Stone-Tolan house. I did go there & took pix to prove it. Stone-Tolan is a modest-sized red house with a grey barn and a couple small out-buildings.

Argh, that scavenger hunt is more like 90 cold, windy minutes, unless you immediately know where every clue is, did the previous hunts and immediately know the right answers.

I dunno if the bottom middle pic is from Gates, but it works.

If anyone knows where or what this pic is of, please let us know for the record.

Re-read the thread above.

If all else fails, go with the letters that you know for sure and then use something like this:

http://www.allwords.com/solver.php

to help you identify the possible words.

But, really, all six of the photos are identified above and the "code" is also called out above.

There are six pictures. Looking for "A key word", according to the newspaper. Look at the the name of each town. You won't even need all six. You know from our teammates that the First one is Pittsford; Second is Mendon; third is Parma; Forth is Greece. Fifth is a bit of a question, but sixth is Webster. You'll end up with six letters....one from each town... bingo.
