Another Easter Egg...
September 18, 2009 - 6:53pm
...this one, the Hello, World egg with the description "look up from Broad St. countdown."
I know that a Hello, World program is pretty much the first programming anyone learns, and I recall making a Hello World program on my Atari way way. No idea what the description means, though...still looking for info.

The ford st bridge is actually not near broad street, down more where S Plymouth is. The countdown clock is right outside the building on the corner of broad and exchange. There are a couple of statues up there, but none worked as a code for me.

Think it might be in the pic of the clock on the FB site, I tried to do the Konami thing with the page, did not work, will try something else. Micci

I did find a Hello, World Easter Egg for an XBox 360 game but the code does not work on the submission page, FB picture page, or even Mamamusing's Flickr photostream where I found another clock pic. This one might take a bit of digging :)

Brain...hurts....and I have to be at Burroughs Audubon center early tomorrow morning :(
But here are some thoughts ....
Easter Egg means it's most likely a hidden feature initiated by a code entered somewhere.
The Countdown on Broad St. is the PTI Countdown Clock.
Mercury is a statue above the clock and is also a way to program the Hello, World code...search "Hello, World" Mercury to see.
There's a Hello World Easter Egg in the XBox 360 game "Getaway".
Now to tie things together or find the missing link....
But first, nap.

Tried the suggestion above, did not work, someone on the Gen Dis board asked if you had to go there and the answer was yes, I am getting very frustrated that I cannot complete these challenges without going all over the city,
I just got back to work and cannot afford all the running around. I do not live or work in the city.

The only way to solve this egg is to go to Broad Street.

Angelwings,
I made a similar complaint about the scavenger hunts - needing to text and not having it. The reply from the creators was something like: that's why there are so many different games. They don't expect everyone to do all the achievements. The paper, the web, and around the city.
Don't give up. You're doing this for Foodlink and every point you get is a point for that cause.

Don't get frustrated or discouraged and especially don't over think it. Next time you're in the area just drop by and say hello to the development team. Our intent is definitely not to frustrate you, stump you maybe, but certainly not to frustrate you.

Hey, my frustration IS NOT with the game, I love the game and I am even a bit obsessed, been here for hours every day! LOL My frustration is with myself, that I can't do all the fun things out there that everyone else is! I am really behind this community project and want everyone (even the other factions) to do well, that is the point. Thanks for the advice and the concern, you guys are the best! Micci

Yeah, you do need to go down to Broad St to get this egg. We stopped there after doing the High Falls leg of the Hunt today. Only hint I have is "up" doesn't always mean straight up. It may not be obvious at first, but when you see it you'll know exactly what your looking for.

Standing across the street offers another view

Not being a city dweller, I grew up south of Rochester,I have trouble with the map stuff and anything to do with specific places - I sorta know where Broad st is, didnt the ford st bridge use to be the broad st bridge? Look up, so what ever it is is high, maybe we count the arches on the bridge? lol, who know, we will ferret it out though, wont we Forge!!? Micci
