Bleeped words thread
September 18, 2009 - 4:34pm
I noticed the staff mention that there's a rudimentary filter on these boards to help stop people from posting complete codes or actual answers for all to see. That was mentioned in the one of the threads asking for help with the Easter Egg challenge.
Since then, I've seen two odd letter combinations getting replaced by astersiks in posts. Can we keep a thread going to list what's been censored - maybe they will add up to a code?
The two I've seen are "tin" in the word "continuously" meaning "happening in a constant fashion" on the News and Announcement boards where a PTI staffer explained that the Friday game wasn't happening, and...
"****" in the word "a****" which is an item of clothing worn over clothes when cooking and tied around the waist with strings.
Any more?

Unless it's censoring for content and that tin was originally written with an extra t...but my bleeped word seems pretty mild to have been filtered for content!

Yup, the word filter is a bit over-zealous, my apologies :) I've had to change my own posts a few times due to it!

I actually kinda love that fact that it filtered the word apron (garment used while cooking, looped around the neck and tied with strings). Made me laugh!

Oh Boy am I a ditz, I stared at Chardonnay for about 5 minutes, thinking, that's silly, why did it do that? Then I got it, lol. OMG, neat! No, I don't think that is a clue!!!! Micci

This filter is a blast, it sees dirty words everywhere! I hate the fact that it picks up on all this stuff I missed. I'll be testing its boundaries, I think....gotta love a challenge!

hmm, so it's taking "tin"...wonder if the word was typoed? tins? tinn? Help me, puzzle fans!
